Membership

Documents Required:

  1. A Photo-copy of trading license or professional certificate.
  2. An appointment letter in the case of a limited/ partnership company.
  3. Form 24, Form 49 in the case of a limited company.
  4. A photo-copy of Identification Card of the representative.
  5. A photo-copy of certificate of registration in the case of a trade association.

To apply for membership one must fulfill the following requirements:

  1. Any individual or company (including public and private limited companies and partnership business) holding, valid trading license engaging in industry, commerce, agriculture, mining and other sectors, and any professional holding valid practice certificate operating in the city of Kota Kinabalu.
  2. Any trade association with registered address in the city of Kota Kinabalu.
  3. Any registered company or firm (in the case of sole proprietorship and partnership) whose majority ownership comprises Malaysian citizens of Chinese origin or any public company whose majority shareholdings or controlling interest is for the time being held by Malaysian citizens of Chinese origin.
  4. The representative of any public or private limited company, sole proprietorship or partnership company or trade association applying for membership must be a Malaysian Citizen of Chinese origin who has attained the age of 21.
  5. Trade association must be represented by either its Chairman or its Deputy Chairman or its Vice Chairman or its Secretary who must be a Malaysian citizen of Chinese origin.
  6. Willing to observe the Rules and Regulation of this Chamber.
  7. Pay his/her entrance fee and annual subscription.
  8. All classes of member and representative shall be Malaysian citizens of Chinese origin.

The entrance fee and annual subscription shall be as follows:

  1. Ordinary member – Entrance fee RM200 and annual subscription RM200.
  2. Trade Association – Entrance fee RM200 and annual subscription RM300.  Trade Association shall not apply for life membership.
  3. Life member – Entrance fee RM2,000 and annual subscription exempted.
  4. An ordinary member who has been in the membership register continuously for 20 years with no annual subscription unpaid, shall automatically become a life member whereby annual subscription thereafter shall be exempted.
