KKCCCI at 9.00 am on Sunday, 28th November, 2010 held a ceremony of granting awards to outstanding children of the members for doing well in their school examinations. The outstanding students from schools under the jurisdiction of KKCCI were also invited to receive the awards for having performed well in the examinations.
Guanzhou Trade Delegation on 15th November, 2010 and Malaysian Communication Expo Co held a press conference at KKCCCI Conference Room regarding the “7th Malaysia – China Trade Expo and Investment Seminar”.
Vice President Datuk Lau Kok Sing revealed that the expo and seminars would be held from 18th to 19th December in the KL International EXPO Centre. He appealed to the business community in Sabah to actively participate.
Madam Tzen Ping, the Chief Delegate from the China External Trade revealed the expo area would occupy a floor space of 9000 sq meters with more than 400 expo stalls from 20 provinces in China taking part in the expo, as well as 150 stalls from Korea, Taiwan, Malaysia, Indonesai, Bangladesh displaying tens of thousands of items of merchandise.

41 COUPLES had chosen the most auspicious time, day and year at 10 am on 10th October, 2010 (10.10.10.10) for the mass wedding.
The date being a Sunday, saw our Registrars of Marriage Mej (K) Chang Chin Shin JP, Chong Choon Kim, Lee Pong Choi, and Kuo Yin Jan performing the mass wedding ceremony, witnessed by our President Datuk Seri Sari Nuar JP., and other members and guests.
A delegation of 34 members and their spouses on 30th August, 2010 flew to Shanghai, visiting different pavilions for three days and also toured the Southern China especially the newly emerged commercial and industrial centre of Hua Nam, Yi Wu and Tong Guan.
The theme of Shanghai Expo centered on “BETTER CITY LIFE”, stressing on low carbon emission, power saving, protection of environment as well as promotion of more civilized society. The Expo complex typified the energy saving and low carbon power generation, and the electrified passenger vehicles and buses.
The Expo attracted huge number of visitors starting from November 2009, most hotels were fully booked. The queue of visitors started from 9.00 am every day. KKCCCI delegation was spared the agony of waiting, as direct access to the China and Taiwan Pavilions had been arranged in advance.
Datuk Seri Panglima Sari Nuar, JP, President of KKCCCI together with the management and supervisory committee members commenced their annual rounds of visits to schools under the jurisdiction of KKCCCI.
On 18th August 2010, they visited Kota Kinabalu High School, and were briefed by the Principal, Mr. Ng Kim Fuat on the school affairs. He said last year out of the 57 students at the STPM class, 39 were admitted to the various universities in Malaysia. This year, the pre-u classes have been increased to three, with two art classes and one science class.
Currently, the student population is close to 2000, with teaching staff strength of slightly more than 100.
Datuk Seri in the dialogue session with the school management members and the staff expressed his satisfaction at the progress made under the current school management members and staff. He remarked that KK High School is now one of the top high schools in Kota Kinabalu.
The Chairman of KK High School Management Board, Mr Lim Kiat Kong together with the others was on hand to welcome Datuk Ser and the others.
Datuk Seri also earlier on 16th and 17th August, 2010 inspected SRJK Chung Hwa Primary School, Kampung Air, Kota Kinabalu and also SJK(C) Hwa Shiong, Putatan.
Datuk Seri in his exchange of ideas with the school management staff at Chung Hwa School indicated that the school management board would take necessary action to tile all the new classrooms to make the new block of classrooms even more comfortable. The next phase of development would be a new school assembly hall.
The school headmaster, Datuk Eng Thiam Leong in report stressed that the school is striving to emphasize on quality education, and enhancing on the noble spirit of imparting such quality education by the teachers. He also mentioned that the motto on “happiness with Chung Hwa” has been promoted among the teaching staff and the pupils under the congenial environment.
The school has more than 2000 pupils and with teaching staff exceeding one hundred.
Our chamber in conjunction with the Sabah Swiftlet House and Bird Nest Industy Association organized a dialogue session with the industry players including the key government officials from Ministry of Local Government and Housing, Wildlife Department, Veterinary Department, as well as Ministry of Agriculture and Food Industry on 31st July, 2010. Many views were expressed on problems and solutions and also the proper government guidelines to be formalized. The dialogue session was coordinated by Federation of Chinese Associations Sabah.
In the press conference on 30th July, 2010 at Promenade Hotel, our chamber announced the winning logo on 100th Anniversary Celebration and the series of events during the anniversary celebration. The winning logo by Ms Cheryl was selected from the 20 entries submitted by the contestants.
Datuk Lau Kok Sing, the Chairman of KKCCCI 100th Anniversary Celebration Organizing Committee cum 1st Vice President of KKCCCI revealed that the anniversary celebration would include tree planting at Mile 2 ½ Jalan Tuaran near the botanical garden close to Wisma Wanita. They would also visit centenarians in Kota Kinabalu and honor them with gifts.

On 24th July, 2010, KKCCCI together with The Federation of Chinese Associations Sabah(FCAS) in conjunction with Swiftlet House and Bird Nest Industry Association held a press conference at Promenade Hotel on “Sabah State Dialogue Session on Swiftlet and Bird Nest Industry”.
Initiated by Federation of Chinese Associations Sabah, Mr Peter Tiew Sii Neng, Director of Commerce and Industy, KKCCCI and his committee would organize the dialogue session on 31st July, 2010 at the Multi – purpose Hall of KKCCCI, inviting the relevant officials from the government departments who would be instrumental in drawing up guidelines to regulate the young industry in Sabah. The enthusiasts and the players of the industry throughout the state would also participate.
On 6th July, 2010, President Dato Sim Hock Guan of Miri Chinese Chamber of Commerce & Industry together with 15 members held a dialogue session with our chamber and they were entertained at Promenade Hotel. Views on inter Sabah-Sarawak trade, and education had been exchanged.
Datuk Seri reiterated that KK and Sarawak always have close relationships, and there are many Sarawakians investing in Sabah, especially helping the development of KK city. President Sim also reciprocated invitation to our chamber to attend their 85th Anniversary Celebration on 4th September, 2010.
Representatives of Curtin University Miri Branch, one Miri Technical College and Borneo Tropical Resorts also promoted the university colleges and their resorts.
